On October 1, 2025, the China Cultural Center in Paris hosted the presentation of the traditional Lisu costumes of Yanbian, part of the “Intangible Heritage Sichuan • Hundred Cities Hundred Arts” program.
The event took place during the China–France Fashion Week 2025, organized by the China Cultural Center with the support of the China National Garment Association and Made in Paris (France).
This show highlighted the living transmission of Chinese intangible cultural heritage and its dialogue with contemporary creation.
The fabrics and embroidery of the Lisu people, from the mountains of Sichuan, were presented as an ancestral craftsmanship, combining symbolism, technique, and identity.
The collaboration with Yanbian Lisu established a bridge between Chinese tradition and French Haute Couture, united by a shared goal: to foster dialogue between heritage and innovation.
Designers offered a contemporary interpretation of the Lisu costume without altering its symbolic meaning, illustrating how fashion can serve as a medium for cultural understanding.
By bringing together traditional craftsmanship and modern design in Paris, the Yanbian Lisu project demonstrates that fashion can act as a universal language, connecting cultures while preserving their memory and guiding their evolution.
